Terminology
We use blasters, not guns. We use darts, not bullets, and we tag each other and take “hits” during play.
0. Don’t be a jerk.
We are all here to have fun, poor sportsmanship and bad attitudes ruin other people’s fun and will not be tolerated. Please treat the moderators, volunteers, players, and school grounds with respect. Clean up after yourself and monitor your minor children at all times to ensure they are following all rules and participating fairly.

1. Safety First.
Events are attended at your own risk and a parent or designated guardian must be present at all times if you are under 18, this is not a drop-off event. The Stalking Dead is for ages 13 and up. Superstock games on Sunday are for ages 6 and up. Players ages 6-12 must have a parent playing with them at all times. The organizer or the property owner of the event site will NOT be held responsible for injuries or the loss or damage of personal property sustained during the event. Every player must have a waiver on file (agreed to at registration) and have registered prior to playing.

Modified Blasters have a 130 fps cap and all blasters will have to pass a chrono test!

Eye protection is mandatory for all participants. (ie: glasses, sunglasses, clear/transparent face shield, goggles, etc.) Full masks are NOT ALLOWED...we must be able to see at least part of your face. This means no night vision goggles either. Covid masks (N95, KN95/94 or better) are exempted from this rule. If in doubt, email us and ask. Ragnarocktoberfest@gmail.com

Do not bring any flashlights, period. Unless you are playing 5v5 or bringing socks (see our tutorial for accepted sock construction at https://youtu.be/cCtgehu25s8), DO NOT BRING ANY, AND WE MEAN ANY AMMO. We will provide all ammo (Long, Short, Rival, Mega.) Plan accordingly. You may be ejected from gameplay if you violate this rule to try to gain an advantage.
Physical contact with other players is prohibited. NO POINT BLANK SHOTS ABOVE THE TORSO! Headshots do count, but you should never be aiming for the head. Point your blaster lower and aim for the legs when getting within a few feet of another player, especially if your blaster is modified. If you are caught violating this rule, you will be asked to sit out or you may be banned entirely. Don’t do it.
If a nonplayer/pedestrian is walking through the field, a player is injured (to the point that they are unable to move off the field of their own volition), or if there is some other threat to personal safety, you are obligated to call HOLD (while raising a fist in the air and freezing). At any time during a round, a "Hold" may be called, which will temporarily pause that round. Players should repeat the call of Hold so that all other players hear until all play stops completely. Do NOT move or change field position while a hold is called, consider yourself paused/frozen and wait for a moderator to signal that you may resume play. Do not call a hold and stop the entire game for your own personal emergency if you can remove yourself from play safely and/or have an equipment malfunction.
2. Equipment.
Don't touch other people's equipment, ever, without asking! This includes before, during and after gameplay. Players will drop equipment during play, DO NOT TOUCH IT. Only at the end of the day may unclaimed equipment be brought to lost and found if it remains on the field of play.
Modified blasters and melee weapons are permitted: (Caveat: Melee are allowed for Superstock only, not for Stalking Dead); all modified blasters and melee weapons must be approved by a moderator at a chrono check before use. Blasters may not be painted to look like real firearms and must have an orange tip. Shields may be used for most game-types. Melee weapons and shields can block darts, but larger caliber ammo (Mega darts and socks, etc.) count as “shield buster” rounds and a hit to the shield will cause you to need to return to spawn, and you will lose the shield for the remainder of the round. Shields may not be used as weapons and you may only use one shield at a time, and can be no larger than 2'x 3'. NO UMBRELLAS as shields. No water balls in place of darts. FPS limit is 130, if you have an unmodified stock blaster, you are usually within this limit, but not always. We will check all blasters with a chrono before each event and on Friday as well, so bring it with you then to get prechecked. Check the main schedule for blaster and sock bomb check in time so you’re ready to play on time!
3. Gameplay
A 'hit' or 'tag' is when a dart contacts your person, clothing, or blaster. When you are hit, raise your blaster or free arm above your head and return to your spawn point for the specified time. If you tag a player out, call the hit. If another player calls a hit on you, take the hit. If you are not sure that you hit someone, don't call the hit. When in doubt, just take the hit (see rule 0). NO ARGUING. TAKE THE HIT. If everyone is honest, and we will assume that you are, we all have fun.
If you experience a disagreement with other players, witness cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct like repeatedly ignoring hits or improper respawning, DO NOT ENGAGE other than to remain calm, remind them of RULE ZERO, and if the behavior is not immediately corrected, then please immediately leave to find and speak to a moderator privately so they can handle it. Coming to a moderator after the match or incident is not as helpful.
Ammo may only be picked up off the ground while you are in play, not while respawning. Ammo carried on your person may be used to reload while re-spawning. All darts and equipment to be used during gameplay must be carried on your person, you may not stash extra anywhere on the field. Spawn points are not your armory, please do not leave extra ammo or gear there for use during the game. Specific rules and limitations may apply depending on the game being played, these rules will be explained before each game. A whistle will signal the beginning and end of each round. A dart sweep will occur between every round of play and the next round will not begin until this occurs. All players MUST HELP to collect darts - please let your children know they need to participate in this, even if they only shot a few darts!
